He's talking about the "2nd hand smoke causes asthma" meme and the generally bad reporting on the generally bad science done. He's not talking about legitimate scientific progress such as vaccinations. He's talking more about the people who are now refusing to vaccinate their children based on bad science saying vaccines cause autism. As for DDT, I'm guessing you haven't kept up with the science there, either. RDB, did you read his article?
