Obama Has Spoken

I did not hear the speech, but have read the transcript. Twice, so far.

He has salvaged his campaign. He hasn’t yet convinced me to vote for him should he survive Hillary at the convention. He is still far too liberal lefty socialist.

You can watch the speech on his website.

My fear is that this speech is going to do more dividing than uniting. He’s not painted a nice picture of either race and offered no strategy for bringing them closer other than proposing common enemies which, as President, he will do something about:

…we need to come together to solve a set of monumental problems – two wars, a terrorist threat, a falling economy, a chronic health care crisis and potentially devastating climate change; problems that are neither black or white or Latino or Asian, but rather problems that confront us all.

I agree…but has anyone made any suggestions on how to bring
the country together? It seems like all anyone has done is
let us all know that we need to be brought together…

Maybe whites could attend black churches and blacks attend white ones ever once in a while. Maybe those churches which are already integrated could be highlighted in some big newspaper article.

Did it surprise you to hear that Rev. Wright’s brand of theology is common, mainstream in the black church? I’m not sure I believe that.

It’s not all about white and black though. I hate reading the comments on some of the more radical sites, both left and right. It’s disheartening to read that because I’m lean republican that I am automatically racist. It’s just as bad to read that all liberal leaning folks are nutcase moonbats.

Though there are a few on both sides that fit the stereotype. I guess that’s where it comes from.
